Wellfound Essentials
Problem:
In today's transformed job marketplace, the proliferation of digital platforms and an increasingly competitive job landscape has resulted in a substantial influx of job applicants for every posted position. This surge in applications has created several critical challenges for both employers and job seekers, necessitating innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the job matching process.
Key Challenges:
Mismatched Applicants: The current job marketplace is inundated with applicants who do not meet the essential requirements of the positions they apply for. This inundation places a substantial burden on employers and hiring managers, who must dedicate excessive time and effort to filter out unsuitable candidates.
Overwhelmed Applicant Inboxes: Job seekers are confronted with the overwhelming task of managing multiple job applications, leading to disorganized and cluttered email inboxes. This overload can result in missed opportunities and diminish the overall job-seeking experience.
Protracted Application Review Times: The time required to review and assess the multitude of applicants for each job posting has dramatically increased, leading to delayed hiring decisions and the potential loss of top talent to competitors. This extended process also adversely affects the overall efficiency of the recruitment cycle.
Custom Application Question
UI/UX Challenges:
Reduce the amount of “bad applicants” coming into the recruiter inbox
Designed a new Question builder within the Job creation flow that allows recruiters to make a set of questions for candidates to answer before submitting an application
Required feature prevented candidates who were mass applying without reviewing the companies they were applying to.
Display candidate answers on application cards to more easily evaluate fit during the recruiter decision process.
New Applications Inbox
UI/UX Challenges:
Improve scan-ability of skills that match job requirements
Reduced cards to key applicant information and created a matching tag section within the card.
Designed a bucketing system to group and rank applications by how much they matched the job description.
Developed requirement filters that recruiters could apply on top of their inbox to more quickly identify top applicants based on preferences.
Decrease time it takes recruiters to go through their inboxes
Added a bookmark function to allow recruiters to come back to top candidates later while clearing their inbox.
Created a pattern for bulk actions, allowing recruiters to accept, reject, or bookmark applicants in bulk using new response templates.
Revamped Application Review Experience
UI/UX Challenges:
Provide Recruiters all the information needed to make a decision quickly in as few steps as possible
Full-screen application experience allows recruiters to focus on the applicant information they are evaluating and consume more.
Hot key actions let our power-users fly through their applicants without ever having to click around with their mouse
Context tabs give recruiters the ability to view profiles and resumes, carry on conversations with their team, and most importantly make a decision on an applicant without leaving the focused view.
Template creation during the decision flow gives recruiters the ability to add a template to their account and use as a quick response without navigating out of the application.
